Remy Galway is a divorced mother, forced to start a new life with her six year old daughter Olivia. Remy rents an old, historic cottage in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. It doesn’t take long for Remy to realize she and Olivia aren’t the only inhabitants in their new home. Little Olivia can see Captain Eli Gaspar, much to his annoyance. When even stranger, more dangerous things begin happening to Remy she realizes someone clearly wants her gone permanently.This is another fun, quick read from Michael Phillip Cash. I love the way the author is able to weave several stories into one interesting and engaging read. Mr. Cash’s ability to add history, romance, hauntings and a bit of family drama makes for a very appealing storyline.
Three characters from “The Flip” were brought back in this book. I appreciated the idea of “sentinels” helping and watching over the departed and found this really added to the plot. The belief that there’s something more after we die is comforting to many people and this message is brought to the forefront in this book.
The one minor thing that confused me was Scott’s character. Maybe it was just me, but I didn’t see this plot twist coming and I felt as though it almost came out of nowhere. Other than that I’d say this is another hit for Michael Phillip Cash.

I really loved this book! The writing was very intelligent but also easy to read, It had me hooked. I really appreciate the authors attention to detail. Of course the characters where fictional but the places the harbor were all real. I would love to visit the museum someday and when I do Eli will be in my thoughts as I walk trough it.
Eli was my favorite character in this book. While Remy was captivating and I love a strong woman character Eli stole my heart. He so complicated and disturbed but yet such a gentle caring soul. He looks out for Remy even though hes not so sure he even likes her. Eli's story was amazing. Everything he did and what he went through made this story even better. I loved that the information wasnt thrown at you all at once. It was given as it was needed. He made me laugh a lot with his love hate relationship with Olivia. His nickname for her made me smile each time he said it, knowing very well he didn't mean what he said.
The romance is this book was refreshing. I loved that they were kinder hearts. As much as they tried to fight it they just knew. The way Hugh takes care of her in her time of need melted my heart. He only wanted to be near her and care for her, he was genuine.
The suspense toward the end of this book had me on the edge of my seat. I had my suspicions of what would happen but when it did and I found everything out I sat shocked and intrigued. The ending its self was perfect. The best part a book is the way you feel when its finished and this book left me satisfied
If you are looking for a story that will make you want to leave the light on at night...this is NOT the book for you. But if you like a light hearted fuzzy bunny ghost story then this is right up your alley. Nothing scary about it at all. Just makes you wish you had a ghost like this one. Its kind of a mix of Its a wonderful life with the guardian angel earning wings and The ghost and Mrs. Muir with the rugged sea captain wrapped together except in this day and age. I nice quick read with everything ending all rosy. I only gave it 4 stars because it made me think when I read where it talls about the book that is was going to be scarier than it was. But I enjoyed it anyway.
The After House is the story of how a haunted house brings together a man and woman decades apart! Remy and her daughter, Olivia had just moved into a new house after a failed marriage. Unbeknownst to them, the house has a secret call Eli. Eli was a whaler with a young family who didn't want him to go out whaling anymore but he didn't listen until a fateful day that he realized they were right.
As we go back and forth between Eli's past and present, we discover how connected he is to Remy. With Remy learning that a ghost is in her house that may have played a major part in the town's history, she wants to know why he stayed behind. Everything will explode one fateful night when everything will come crashing down for Remy and Eli in the most unexpected ways that will let them see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I'm finding it hard to write this review due to the simple fact that I don't want to give away much about this book. It truly is a great thriller / mystery read that will leave you up way past your bedtime just to find out what happened to Eli in his past and how this book will tie everything up! I truly believe in ghosts and this story is a perfect example of why some people stay behind, they have unfinished business and will not cross over until they have the answers they need like Eli. This would make for the perfect story to read during a storm just to get all the feels that this book brings out!!

After reading Stillwell A Haunting on Long Island, Michael Phillip Cash is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. The After House is a hauntingly beautiful story set between 1840's and modern day Long Island.
Remy and her young daughter take refuge in a 300 year old cottage in Cold Spring Harbor after ending her marriage to volatile and unpredictable husband Scott. Eli, the whaling ship captain and long time past original homeowner who has been inhabiting the house ever since his death is not happy with his new crew mates.
At the request of Remy's mother, she soon meets Hugh, the town mayor and local museum owner. With a blossoming romance in the works, Hugh is there for Remy when she starts experiencing some dangerous situations.
The Captain is also there for Remy in her time of need but is struggling with his problems.
Will things work out for Remmy or the Captain?
Read this book to find out. You will not be able to put it down!
